It doesn't really take much for my mind to go on an exuberant tangent, but today I will share with you one of my recent trips down the rabbit hole...
So yesterday, I was watching VH1 (I know right), but not the trashy reality show VH1. It was really early in the morning, so they were playing actual music videos! It was a block of 80s music videos too, which I really love. Music Videos back then were so terribly creative and abstract! They actually made you feel like you weren't wasting precious minutes of your life. Anywho, one song came on that I know very well, but have never seen the video before. The name of the song was "Under Pressure". I'm sure you've heard it as well. Sometimes when music has such a catchy beat, we don't really pay attention to the words and meaning. Seeing the video however made me realize what the song was actually about. To tell you the truth the video is a little bit creepy, but I really like it.
Watching the video, started to turn the wheels of my mind where I actually thought about the term "under pressure". We ARE all under so much pressure! The world is a darn stressful place! Sometimes it's like a constant struggle to stay afloat on a consistently sinking ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean... in the middle of storm season. These past 2 months especially have been a bit tense. Sometimes when you are in fact under all of that stress, it's hard to see how you can ever manage to submerge in one piece. Especially if things keep piling on top, one after the other. However, there comes a lovely time after being under pressure that I like to (aptly) call, over pressure!
One of earth's most beautiful (and expensive) gems is actually formed by being under intense heat and pressure, but because the final product is so exquisite, it's hard to imagine all that the diamond goes through. The following is from Wikipedia (one of my top 5 most visited websites): "Most natural diamonds are formed at high temperature and pressure at depths of 140 to 190 kilometers (87 to 118 mi) in the Earth's mantle. Carbon - containing minerals provide the carbon source, and the growth occurs over periods from 1 billion to 3.3 billion years."
Billions of years people! Sometimes it takes time. LOTS of time apparently. But the end of it is worth it. I know that sometimes life can seemingly appear to be more than you can bare, but we are strong! It takes a lot to break such unbreakable beings. The pressure is a necessary evil, but the thought of being a shiny, sparkly new diamond at the end of it all keeps me going! I just have to wait a billion years (or so it may seem). I'm sure the time will just fly right on by.
Appreciate the struggles that make you what you are. They are what make you uniquely YOU. Resilience is the key to our rarity. And there we have it folks, a bit of insight into my everyday thought process! Now do you see why I need to do this blog??
p.s. I actually have a diamond that I am looking to sell! Selling diamond is so much harder than one might think.
p.p.s I've really been trying all my life to have an 80s themed birthday party. All 80s music, and everyone has to dress up...it's coming! (Also my Bollywood birthday party, but that will require much more technically precise choreography)
p.p.p.s Poor Vanilla Ice...
