Welp everybody, after long await, we've finally reached the last post of the year. Congrats if you've been keeping up with the blog! (SHAME if you have not!) Hope everyone had a very good holiday. Even if you don't celebrate certain things, you still get a break, so I hope THAT was atleast good. Mine came and went pretty normally. Lot's of Netflix. I Skyped with my family (sort of. We can never really figure out how to get all of our videos working at the same time. I had to facetime my little sister and hold my phone up to the computer screen). Other than that though, I've mostly been putzing around for the past week. Oh who am I kidding...month! Yeap, it was definitely a lazy month. But that is all going to change in a few days, so I may as well live up the laziness while I have the chance. Today I will obviously be talking about the end of the year, but more importantly, all of my plans for next year! If you know me though, you probably know that I'm not the most planniest planner, but I do have a few things I would like to accomplish.
Some people that I talk to surprisingly don't share the same amount of enthusiasm that I have for the fresh start of a new year. Their argument? "Why can't you just start whatever it is you wanna start any time of the year? Why do you have to wait until the New Year?" I see you point skeptics... and I raise you a point. It is true that any goal I set for myself beginning New Years Day, could just as easily be done today, but I do feel that January 1 being the first day of the year and all, it's just such an easy time marker to help you keep track of progression. Also, when setting a goal, there is usually a specific end date, right? Why not have a specific start date as well? Starting something that you truly believe in, without proper time to adjust to the changes that will have to be made is like going straight from 7th grade to 8th grade with out that amazing summer break! When we all knew we had to go back to school September 3rd, we got all (or most) of our childhood heathen energy out during that summer break in order to fully prepare us for everything we had to do. Another comparison would be setting a wedding date. Get all the kinks (and KINKS) out before the wedding day, because once you are actually married, let's just say it's much harder to UNDO than to DO. Point is folks, beginning dates are just as important as due dates, so why not begin on the easiest to remember beginning date of all?
Without further ado, I will now reveal a list of things I would like to do in 2016. Most of the list is just things I would like to improve on. I always have one main resolution however that is absolutely bound to happen. I will save that for the end:
- Work on my spelling and grammar in blogs
- Drink lots of water
- Be smarter
- Be more professional
- Get a 6 pack (abs)
- Create sustainable revenue for myself
- Travel MORE
- Learn a language conversationally
- Hire a PAID employee
- Get a better apartment
- Find a decent hairstyle
- Give more
- Write and publish a book
- Make more time for family and friends
My main resolution for next year you may ask? Help someone reach THEIR New Year's Resolution. Yeap, I want to spread my goal over to someone else. Could be even more than one (but ATLEAST one)! I realize that most of my resolutions in that past have been solely about me. What about everybody else? I do all this talking about how I always make my goals happen, and now it's time to practice what I preach by helping someone else do the same thing. So tell me your goals people! I know you have some, so let's hear it. Comment and tell me, or if you're shy, you can email me. Let's see how we can figure this out and make it work.
Yikes, just looking at that list makes me sleepy. Hopefully though this lazy month has been enough for me to want to be super energetic after the next few days. The things I wanna do are also not limited to this list alone, it's just a simple guideline. The possibilities are endless! Who really knows what this next year may bring. As people, each new day is a journey into the unknown. Each new moment actually. It's all one big surprise. The best we can all do is try a lit bit to be better than we were yesterday. That doesn't sound too hard right? Anywho, I only have 3 more days of blah, so I better get a jump on that. Enjoy the last remnants everyone! You'll hear from me next year...
p.s. I STILL don't have NYE plans, ugh. Last year was a complete disaster, as some of you may remember... I've actually never been to Times Square to see the ball drop since living in NYC, but I've heard horror stories about those crowds. There's just too much pressure to have too much fun. I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to make us all go to church on New Years Eve, and I was so mad! But low key, I probably should do something low maintenance and serene. Probably won't though! Some bars in NYC have a 24 hour liquor license!
p.p.s. Yesterday I finally got to see the Star Wars movie, so someone remind me to do a blog about that next year! I have sooooo many things to say.
p.p.p.s. Seriously though everybody, feel free to email me about your plans for next year, or any ways that I could help you accomplish them. Also, let me know if you think there is anything I should add to this list. I'm taking suggestions until 11:55pm on December 31st. Happy New Year everybody!
