Hello everyone, happy Monday! Also, happy November! But most importantly, happy Autumn! Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year I believe. Everything is so darn colorful and crispy! The changing of the leaves also represent other changes going on in life around this time. To everything there is truly a season. The trees around us should be all the proof we need!
The past 2 months have been a little all over the place for me, I must admit. I've had one of my friend's who lives overseas staying with me, I've had my rescue kitty Garbage to help take care of, I've been trying to balance making a living while still trying to have time for my passions. It's truly been a blur! I am very much looking forward to the winter, where I can try to hibernate a bit. In the midst of this blur of a month, I noticed the occasional beautiful leaf through the cracks of NYC skyscrapers. If there was ever a time to step away and take a quick breath, it was now! I've said this before, you don't have to travel too far to go experience the beauty of travel. All I did was go upstate! Very close! I had the opportunity to head about an hour and a half (not including traffic ofcourse, blahhhh) to a nice little town called Warwick (which is right on the boarder of NY/NJ. Up there, the leaves are in full technicolor mode! It was also good for me to get away from the busyness of the city folk rushing around all the darn time, and Ignoring everything going on around them.
Granted, this small town was giving off a bit of a ghost town vibe at first. This was probably due to the fact that it was still misty from the rain. Also maybe because it was 2 days before Halloween! Who knows! After the sun came out however, I got to go on yet another one of my glamorous hikes. My inner Beyonce told me to bring a red dress. I just felt like the red would totally pop in the midst of all the fall colors! I did feel the questionable stares of the other hikers on the trail, but oh well!
I'm glad I got to see the trees in their peek of change though. So very beautiful! Seriously, that's all I kept saying to myself... how freakin' beautiful! I honestly could have lived there. Why the heck is fall so short?? There really is only a small window for the color leaf changey thing that goes on. I wonder if there is a place on earth that has super long falls (like how some places have really long winters or long summers).
The bed and breakfast that I stayed at was equally awesome. I've actually never stayed at a bed and breakfast before. I HIGHLY recommend it! Well, I'm not sure about other ones, but the one I stayed at was... well, actually, I'm not sure if I wanna give up my secret location, awesome B&B spot to EVERYONE (I want it to be available anytime I wanna go back!)...but if you do need a suggestion, let me know! The inn keepers were SO nice. I literally felt like the whole place was my house. They had everything I could ever need! Of everything though, I think the best part was the jacuzzi in the bathroom (I'm a huge bathroom person). Ugh, I could've slept in the tub. I'm thinking about it now...sigh. In the morning, they cooked egg soufflé (fresh farm eggs), with pineapple and strawberry on the side. I usually don't eat that early unless I'm still up from the night before scarfing down some leftover halal, but it was very tasty! Heading back towards the city, there was also a place that sold some amazing berry pie that melts in your mouth. Overall, very nice town, with very nice leaves, and very nice food! What more could I ask for?
It was good to get away, if even for a day. I know fall is short, but there is still time to get out there and hang out with the leaves, so go do it! Pretend you're a little kid without a care in the world. Your only concern being to find the most unique leaf that you can (yes, I actually tried, it's pretty hard). Remember that change is a very cleansing experience necessary for almost every living thing. Through the process we may feel as though we are losing something that we've held on to for so long, but as the cycle continues you see, it all comes back around full circle, and we regain everything we need to go on. The change can be a beautiful process!
p.s. The only thing that's so annoying about this time of year is darn daylight savings time. It always sneaks up on me! Seriously, why do we ever need that? Why can't time just be time all the time?? So little daylight for me to work with now, smh...
p.p.s. If you DO decided to go upstate New York, do NOT drive up there during rush hour -___-
p.p.p.s. I really was lookin' like a looney tune running through the woods in that red dress though, haha! Video of that coming soon!
